Disney Cruise - Day one 2024

Writer: The Disney Bound MummaThe Disney Bound Mumma

What an exciting day this was!

I got my family up early as we are about an hour or so from the port. I wanted to get down there with enough time to park and have ourselves ready to board at 12pm.

With two kids in tow I knew this was something I needed to plan ahead with.

We drove to the port and parked locally in a Parking Tower.

Once parked we decided to go for a walk to get our first close up look at the ship.

This was a moment I don’t think any of us will ever forget. To actually see something you have been dreaming about for years and finally get to experience it was just a dream come true.

You could not wipe the smile off any of our faces.

We decided as we were early to go to a local cafe to grab a drink and a small bite to eat.

That time felt like an eternity!

It was finally time for us to get our bags and head to the port were we met family that were also coming along with us. We got some photos in front of the Ship which I highly recommend. There was a cast member there to help families.

The boarding process was very straight forward.

Wait for your arrival time.

Drop your luggage with them and follow the path.

Here we were lead into the building where they checked us in and sent us to the Ship.

Walking trough that hallway was the most exciting experience.

Once we seen the doors and begun walking through the arch way the magic begun straight away.

Cast members are waiting to announce your family onto the ship with some characters there to greet you.

Taking it all in can be a little overwhelming but just try because if its your first time…. It’s a Core Memory that’s for sure.

We were directed to Cabanas for lunch as soon as we boarded. Wow so much food.

It was great to see options for everyone straight away. There was really a bit of everything you couldn’t possibly have nothing to eat.

With a full belly we decided to have a look around the ship while we waited for our room to open. Thankfully they were ready around 2pm so we really didn’t wait too long after boarding.

This was the perfect time to take advantage of the Kids Club open times. I wish i could stay in Andys Room it is so cool!

We had the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom on deck 2 and I was very happy with the space provided. The Split Bathroom was a great idea and really came I handy for us over the course of our trip.

The bed was SOOOOOOOO comfy. It’s what Disney Dreams are made of!

The Massive window let in so much light and had such a fantastic view.

( I will add though it took a little to adjust the next morning when we were moving. If you have Vertigo or suffer from Motion Sickness this is something to keep in mind! )

I will make a seperate post about our Stateroom In detail but as an overview it was really great!

Around this time was about 3pm and we had our Mandatory Safety Briefing at 4pm. The kids really wanted to try the waterslide before it got too busy… so I thought why not hey!

Quickly get their bathers on and headed to Deck 9.  In about 35 minutes we were able to conquer the waterslide and head back to the stateroom to get changed so we can head to the briefing.

Mandatory Safety Briefings are held all over the ship. Your stateroom will be given instructions on where to go for your group. It really on only took about 15 minutes and is done kid friendly.

Once completed you’re ready to head to the Sail a Wave Party to begin your Vacation!!

Sail a Wave was such a hype. It really got you in the mood for some fun!

The countdown to the horn is the best part!

Be sure not to be slow to getting to this party as viewing is limited if the Ship is full.

We had later Dining so at 6pm we went to see our first Stage show Disney Dreams.

This show was my sons favourite. It’s true there is no production like a Disney production. It was a fantastic show and I highly recommend you go and see it when on board.

7.45pm we had late dining. Our first restaurant was Tinana’s Place. WOW WOW WOW WOW!

I felt like we were in the movie! Tiana on stage singing, Tiana coming to each table to speak to everyone, Lewis on stage and after our meal a big Conga Line and Limbo… I felt like I was in New Orleans and I didn’t want to leave. The atmosphere was surreal. This was my first ever Disney dining experience and from this point I am hooked!

I had the Steak and Flower Potato and it was divine. This was actually my favourite main meal on the ship!

We received beaded necklaces also which was fun and a great keepsake.

It was dark upon leaving the restaurant so we wanted to see the ship on deck 9 and 10 at night all light up.

It was everything we imagined and more…. What a way to end our first Disney Wonder day
